This isn’t to mean it’s saccharine. Lots of conflicts occur. You’ll laugh a lot, and you might roar a bit. The operative word is “charming”. If you are not charmed by this series, you have no heart at all. Hitler would laugh and wail with their adventures.
The curious conceit is that the family has thirteen members who turn into the animals of the Chinese zodiac (you know, year of the rat, and stuff, with the cat added to the normal 12) . They adopt a mettlesome girl who has been orphaned.

This is the most heart-warming and touching anime series I’ve ever seen. It’s shoujo, meaning it’s geared towards girls but anyone would bask in watching this. There are no gun or sword battles, transforming robots, or flying demons but even my teenage son loves it because of all the amusing and dismal characters (our favorites are Shigure, Kyo, Momiji & Ayame) .
You meet and accumulate to know the cursed Sohma family through the eyes of orphaned high-school student Tohru Honda. Everyone has a epic to pronounce, some quite heart-wrenching. I was touched by all their stories. Heck, I even felt sorry for Akito!
Although I remove to survey anime in their unusual Japanese, I mediate that Funimation did a SUPERLATIVE job of dubbing and translating these series. In my belief all the American impart actors were capable! I really liked Laura Bailey as Tohru but my hat goes off to John Burgmeier who was unprejudiced AWESOME as Shigure!

I first discovered “Jakers!” on PBS a year or two ago while I was watching TV with my sister (now 18) . We both LOVED it! It’s SO cute! They have darling accents and adorable quirks! My newest sister (2 years passe) also loves “Jakers!” It is a very obvious point to that encourages imagination and play, yet also responsibility and friendship. I recommend this for ANY parent that wants their child to learn more about the world and culture.

There are two versions offered for sale at Amazon. The Koch Vision Entertainment version, despite the description in the technical details, is NOT COLORIZED. The Goodtimes Home Video version version IS colorized. Which you win is entirely up to you, but don’t order the Koch Vision version if you want the movie in color. The Koch Vision version has an extended peaceful film extra of the first time Laurel and Hardy appeared together (NOT as a team, however) . The extra is though-provoking, but (by today’s standards anyhow) a itsy-bitsy boring. The Goodtimes Entertainment (Colorized) version, although a few cents cheaper than the other version, is, in my understanding, a distinguished “cleaner” print. Even with the color level turned down so it appears as the new B&W, the Goodtimes version is sharper and more obvious. March of the Wooden Soldiers, holds up elegant well.
Adapted from Victor Herbert’s Opera “Babes in Toyland” this 1934 Laurel and Hardy Operetta presents us with a timeless Holiday Classic for the entire family to witness during the holidays. The DVD presentation has been meticulously Remastered and Colorized (for the next generation’s enjoyment and for the Shaded & White traditionalists fair turn off the color) .
Laurel & Hardy have never been better. The characters (Based on Mother Goose and celebrated Nursey Rhymes),the record line of Toyland(Santa’s Toy making Headquarters preparing for the upcoming holiday’s) & the Villian with his henchmen (Great Landlord and his Bogeyman Army) can’t lose. This was not impartial a film about the life of Robert Johnson, but a glance at the time and dwelling that he lived in and what influenced him as a musician and a man. I felt a better opinion of Robert Johnson, not objective the liner notes I’ve read in the past about the meaning of the songs, or style of guitar he played. This film attach me in the Delta when RJ was growing up and in Texas when he was recording the records.
Keb Mo’ was beautifully understated in the reenactments. In fact since he’s lip syncing, and the lighting was so dramatic and mysterious, at moments I view I was seeing the lost footage of Robert Johnson.
The interviews were enlightening and personal. Johnny Shines had me in tears one moment and laughing the next. What a pleasure for the world to accumulate out the relationship Johnnny and Robert had. Any fan of the Blues or Rock N’ Roll should notice this film.
This film is worth it’s weight in platinum honest for the rare photo’s of Johnson and the people in his life. The majority of the photos are the same one’s you look in the liner effect booklet of the “Complete recordings” box residence. There is also a rare performance by legendary bluesman: Son House!The major thing that sets this documentary apart from the documentary:”The Search For Robert Johnson” is that “Wind” had a great larger budget, which obviously is why you hear many of Johnson’sactuals recordings, and witness many of the photos and precise props from Johnson’s era in this film. “Wind” also has interviews from a few people who knew Johnson who didn’t appear in “The Search” and a few very critical facts that I didn’t know. I deem it’s grand to say that whatever is not covered in “Wind” is covered in “The Search”. Also, “The Search” is more personal than “Wind” in that it adheres more towards a faded documentary style while “Wind” leans a tiny more towards the docu-drama style. I judge this will probably be the last documentary we will ever seeon this subject because mostly all the info has been covered between these two documentaries and many of the people who knew Johnson may not be around for another interview. There are only two things I didn’t like about “Wind”. 1) I didn’t particularly care for the stand up segments by Danny Glover as the Narrator, I view the film could have stood on it’s absorb without these. 2) I was very disappointed in the quality of the footage that was shot on film on the segments outside. All these segments were very grainy. I acquire the DVD and don’t know if something happened in the transfer, or if the error was made by someone else. It is a dismal testament to Johnson’slife because all those segments were key figures who will probably never be captured on film again to lisp their account about Robert Johnson!

Loosely rooted in staunch American history and based upon people who once actually lived, “Pocahontas” is a very different kind of engrossing classic from the House of Mouse. It’s the memoir of a shapely, free-spirited, young (but not as young as Disney’s usual) Native American princess who crosses paths with an English explorer named John Smith, only to have romance rapid do between them. John Smith arrives in the Americas fair in time for Pocahontas, who is apprehensive by her father’s wish that she marry hometown hero Kocoum and, confused all the more by a mysterious dream, is in search of a different path to follow. John Smith is also in search of something, and when he finds Pocahontas, he thinks he has found it. The scrape is, John is filled with prejudices against Pocahontas and her people, until she shows him the light. She teaches him about the beauty and wonder of nature and how we are all connected to each other. But admire makes John an easy sell. His fellow English settlers are not quite so easily convinced. They only gape the Indians as unsafe savages that must be destroyed to invent the location marvelous to live in. Matters are made worse by the greed of their leader, Governor Ratcliffe, who is convinced the savages are hoarding the gold he can’t seem to collect by digging up the land. Their violent actions lead to violent reactions from the tribe, which culminate in a fiery confrontation that only Pocahontas’s admire and notion can bring to peace.
The first time I saw Pocahontas, and for long after that, I had mixed feelings about it. I’m a hardcore Disney fan, and there’s itsy-bitsy I detest more than to be disappointed in a Disney challenging feature. Unfortunately, this was something I had to deal with for… possibly the first time ever in theaters upon seeing “Pocahontas.” Not doubt, “Pocahontas” was always a exquisite film. The art is Disney at its best, and the music and songs are truly delicate. The laughable relief, in the effect of Pocahontas’s animal friends, is suitable on the money. The convey cast is top notch, with Mel Gibson as John Smith and Irene Bedard as Pocahontas (Judy Kuhn doing her incredible singing mutter), David Ogden Stiers as Ratcliffe and his servant, Wiggins, Russell Means as Chief Powhatan, Christian Bale, Linda Hunt, and more rounding out the cast, but there was objective something missing,…something crucial. I soon decided that the plight was in the villain, Governor Ratcliffe, who unprejudiced wasn’t villain ENOUGH for my tastes. This sudden realization of what was base with “Pocahontas” was a large mistake, but it’s one that is collected commonly made. I failed to scrutinize then, that the correct villain of “Pocahontas” is not Governor Ratcliffe at all, but “prejudice” itself. This is something that is even pointed out in the DVD’s audio commentary, but, of course, I only heard that recently. My poor. I should have been able to perceive past the expected to the comely positive. However, while this knowledge does wait on improve the movie somewhat, it composed doesn’t consume it from, “splendid, but not quite `Disney’ noble,” to “Instant Disney Classic.” As it turned out, the secret lay in a lop musical number: “If I Never Knew You.” One day, while watching the network television premiere of “Pocahontas” on ABC, I learned about a dazzling and wrongfully carve scene from the film in which John Smith, while awaiting his execution, shares a romantic duet with Pocahontas in which the two truly show their feelings for and to each other. It’s the moment in the movie where we truly fetch the feeling that these two appreciate each other, and not having it in the film was a tainted mistake! And, why did they crop it? Because petite kids were bored with it. Thank goodness for DVDs and Special Editions! In this 2-disc, 10th Anniversary DVD release of Pocahontas, that ravishing scene has been completed and restored to the film, and it makes all the contrast in the world! There’s even a current reprise of the song arrive the ruin as Pocahontas and John Smith exchange two lines, and that moment will bring you to tears! After finally viewing the movie with “If I Never Knew You” intact, I can happily say that “Pocahontas” has gone from one of my least current Disney films to one of the best! There may be no drop-dead delicate, redheaded mermaids and no palatable singing bears, but Disney has managed to consume a more right and serious subject and turn it into a fabulous novel masterpiece! Now, if they could only fix “Atlantis: The Lost Empire.”
As for the DVD, this improbable 10th Anniversary Edition is a vast improvement over the Gold Collection release. The film has been digitally remastered and is presented in anamorphic widescreen. Your are given the option of viewing “Pocahontas” as it plays, which means the “extended reduce” with “If I Never Knew You” intact, or choosing the shorter, far rotten theatrical cleave. Why would anyone want to do that? Serene, options are always nice to have. Disc One also includes a pretty and informative audio commentary with producer and directors that will only heighten your appreciation of the film. An art project, game, and two sing-along-songs (“Colors of the Wind” and “Fair Around the River Bend”) are included on Disc One as well, along with the Vanessa Williams video for the pop version of “Colors of the Wind.” Remember how they former to play Disney songs like that on the radio during the Disney Decade? That was so icy.
Disc Two is loaded with broad extras for the serious animation enthusiast. There’s an appetizing making-of featurette hosted by Irene Bedard, an early production reel, loads of galleries and clips on one of my celebrated subjects: character development (art accomplish, layouts, and backgrounds are also covered), scene production comparison reels, the pop video for “If I Never Knew You,” a featurette on the music of the film, and one about the decision to restore the movie’s (very valuable) reduce scene. Yes, you come by to examine Pocahontas drawn in novel clothes, in paunchy color, and she looks darn advantageous, even if I am more of a Tink and Ariel man myself!
The is one DVD Edition I can’t recommend enough, primarily because it presents a movie you’ve seen before as you’ve never seen it before, and, in this case, I believe most people will get the extension to be a colossal improvement. Bottom-line, even if you weren’t a fan of “Pocahontas” before, do yourself a favor and check it out one more time in its extended sever. It’s not the same experience. It’s grand, distinguished better!

I am one of the rare “Smallville” fans that greatly win the darker seasons of slack to the light-hearted, freak-of-the-week seasons that the present started with. Season 8 introduced the valid Tess Mercer (as excellently portrayed by Cassidy Freeman) who filled the shoes of an MIA Lex Luthor with more charisma and grace than, dare I say it, the colossal Michael Rosenbaum in the past couple seasons. Also among the characters this year is Davis “Doomsday” Bloome, who is taken to the next level by Sam Witwer, who plays the role in such a plan that the viewers can actually sympathize for the tortured, lonely murderer that Davis has unfortunately become.

There are only two problems that I have with season 8. The first is that around episodes 8.03-8.05, the present lagged. A lot. The episodes, I understanding, were quite lifeless and objective not the best work that the “Smallville” writers have build forth. Specifically 8.03 “Toxic,” which could’ve been a astounding exploration of Justin Hartley’s Oliver “Green Arrow” Queen character but ended up being a bland, practical snorefest.
The second predicament is the Lana-arc in episodes 8.10-8.14. While 8.10 “Bride,” 8.11 “Legion,” and 8.12 “Bulletproof” were all outstanding and Kristin Kreuk delivered on every front in her reprisal as Lana Lang, the storyline of giving Lana tidy powers was extremely unwelcome to most fans (myself included) and, if anything, ruined what could’ve been a perfect demolish to the lengthy Clark/Lana storyline that has frightened “Smallville” since the first episode. 8.14 “Requiem” is a profitable episode, mind you, but the poorly done neat!Lana storyline brings it and 8.13 “Power” down as the worst episodes of the season.

Now, there are definitely some blockbuster episodes that were perfect, in my eyes. The entire slew of episodes from 8.15 to 8.21 were luminous – specifically 8.15 “Deplorable,” 8.16 “Turbulence” (a incandescent and emotionally raw exploration of the characters – specifically Jimmy Olsen), 8.18 “Eternal,” and 8.21 “Injustice.” Watching this season, I was in dread at how distinguished the actors and actresses – and their characters – have grown since they were first introduced to us and I have yet to be disappointed by the work turned in by the astonishing Tom Welling, the outstanding Allison Mack, and the attractive Erica Durance.
Overall, I highly recommend that novel viewers net this season when its on sale and all “Smallville” fans should recall this boxset as soon as it’s released. As we enter season 9, which may very well be our last “Smallville” season, I have high hopes that the indicate will kick it into high gear and go out with a bang.
I’ve been tuning into Smallville since Episode 1, and have been a fan of Superman since I was a miniature kid.
Smallville is one of the greatest interpretations of Superman ever created in any type of medium (comical book, TV, etc.) And I was disappointed to scrutinize that Smallville Season 8 only received an average rating of 3.5 stars.
Most of the lower rated reviews include complaints about how the demonstrate is starting to lose credibility with it’s laughable counterpart. In other words it doesn’t tie into the silly book that well, the finale of Season 8 was anti climactic, how the writing is starting to dwindle, so on so forth.
Smallville is an INTERPRETATION of the funny book narrative. It is NOT the laughable book itself. So to bash Season 8 because it doesn’t tie in to the amusing that well is blooming funny, cause there have been apparent changes from the laughable book since Season 1. And if you are a long time fan of Smallville, why bash season 8 for something that’s been going on since .. well .. forever?
Smallville has always stayed good to the basics of the Superman mythos. Clark and Lex are enemies. Lois and Clark will plunge in care for. Clark will become Superman, etc.
And I don’t acquire for a second that Lex is truly plain. And if he is then damn the writers to hell. Although it is highly unlikely that Rosenbaum will return to the cast of Smallville, I am for clear we have not heard the last from Lex. He cant be monotonous … advance on … he’s Lex Luthor.
The writers have done an astounding job picking up from Season 7. Despite the loss of Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor), they quiet do a sizable job of tying in Lex to the myth without actually having him on veil.
Tess Mercer fills in for Lex as the novel CEO for Luthercorp. Ravishing distinguished the unusual “poor guy” to give Clark and his friends a hard time. And although Lex is missed (A LOT!!!) She’s capable. Nuff said.
Also in this season we are treated with the ever growing romance between Lois and Clark. Adore is in the air in season 8! (Is admire ever NOT in the air? ) But I have always admired Smallville for it’s character development, especially with Clark’s appreciate interests (well mostly Lana) . But Lois and Clark are as equally intoxicating to notice as Lana and Clark in previous seasons.
Erica Durance plays the best Lois Lane I have ever seen. She nails her personality flawlessly. Naive, cocky, shameful, Clarks opposite … his perfect match.
And what about the final battle between Doomsday in the Season Finale? What about it? Nothing short of … awesome can you say? Many complained that the battle was too short and anti climactic. It depends on how you gape it. In my idea, the battle had started the day Clark met Davis Bloome (Doomsday) . It wasn’t the physical battle so grand as it was the emotional battle that Clark went through, and the writers did a noble job presenting it.
Can Clark overcome the beast without killing him?
Time and time again through Season 8, Clark is tempted by his friends, and even his fellow heroes that sometimes the only map to achieve the day is to destroy. That killing is a sacrifice a hero has to effect once in a while to befriend the greater respectable of mankind.
But Clark shows why he isn’t a hero. He shows why he is a superhero. He can manufacture the decisions that no one else can produce, not even heroes like Green Arrow. That there is always a scheme to put the world without crossing the line, and that a life is a life no matter who it may be.
Season 8 is awesome, and even after 8 years, Smallville has not lost its quality when compared with previous seasons. The drive of the exhibit, the ambition of the indicate has remained the same.
If you are a fan of Smallville don’t compare it to other mediums of Superman, but worship as is.
If you do you wont be disappointed. 5 stars.

This is one of the more ‘fun’ films of John Wayne (along with Mclintock) . Wayne plays Sam McCord, a prospector who struck it rich in Alaska. His partner sends him to Seattle to derive his fiancee, but Sam finds her married and instead goes looking for another French woman (the other woman was French, and Sam apparently thinks all French women are alike) . He finds one, Angel, and takes her to Alaska, but both of them descend in adore with the other on the dawdle attend. The result is a hilarious fiasco of like and despise, with Sam playing the stereotypical stubborn, hardheaded man.
This movie is a lot of fun. There are the typical barroom brawls (as well as a fight on the street), and also a shootout objective for wonderful measure. The film is a fun film, intermingled with some nice action. Some of the scenes seem as if they were copied from photos of the unhurried 1890’s. The scenery is terrific, but don’t deem that they really went to Alaska to film any of it… it’s the best that California could arrive up with. The city of Nome is nicely done, accurate down to the muddy streets. As you can interrogate from any John Wayne movie, you’ll have a couple of titillating fights.
For those who deem of John Wayne as being anti-Indian… forget it. This movie has an established talent pool of a cast, and usually they can be depended on to place the “dis” in dysfunctional, but this time the jokes fail to wobble smoothly, wasting the comedic talents of Jenifer Lewis, David Mann and Frankie Faison. Tyler Perry appears briefly as his most beloved character Madea, but even this feels like an afterthought in the context of the movie.
Angela Bassett is out of site for this particular role, but marvelous actress that she is, her character signifies hope for single mothers everywhere who may be feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of work, home and family.

Whoever you people are who say how spacious this movie is, you are out of your minds. You’re either crazy or you’ve never seen a movie, ever. This was the worst movie that I’ve ever seen and I saw “Straight Out of Brooklyn”.
Predictable? Every Tyler Perry movie is predictable, but somehow he at least made that work in “Why Did I Gain Married? “. This movie reminded me of something build together from outtakes of other movies.
Angela Bassett as a “young mother”? She’s got to be almost fifty. Yes, she looks enormous, but she’s not young in anybody’s definition.
Madea belonged in this movie about as grand as I did and she made about as considerable sense.
That “Contemptible Ho” and the other “Ho’s” wasn’t amusing.
AT ALL!
Rick Fox looks really irregular, not the hottie that he extinct to be.

The Monster at Camp Sunshine is a gem. It begins with an animation sequence that makes no sense and is reminiscent of the animation in Monty Python’s Flying Circus. It has intentional humor that actually works and a anecdote line that is bizarre to say the least. It is about a chemical that unleashes the killer instinct getting into the water at a nudist camp. The gardener, who is supposed to be retarded, drinks some water and turns into a monster that looks like Moe Howard from the Three Stooges. Although he’s not very threatening it takes the army to end him, peace is restored and nudism is affirmed as a healthy draw of life. Classic.
Overall a respectable spot. I’d recommend it.
Actually, looking at this DVD can be a lot of fun. The acting is extreme budget, but all the extras on this DVD create for a fun afternoon or evening when the weather is dreadful. There is a lot of nudity, but this is the nudity of the mid 60’s, so seek information from lots of breasts and tushes, but no frontal nudity. In fact, some of the men are wearing swimming trunks. The Beast is in color and is area in a Florida nudist club (or so they say), and most of the actors sport a beefy tan, contrasted to a lot of ‘whitetails’ in the Monster of Camp Sunshine, which is in B&W. When the final assault on the monster is shown for the Camp Sunshine film, it is a mismash of civil war, Korean War, WWI and WII stock footages, and perhaps even some western calvary charges. It was as if every stock fighting footage the producers could derive were thrown in, and is quite hilarious. The extras on this DVD are quite curious, including a 1920’s nudist serial which is actually quite captivating and perhaps the best of the extras. Obviously, getting the DVD is preferred to the video version, due to all the extras which can provide an intelligent insight to how nudity was depicted under the original relaxation of censorship that took site in the early 1960’s. Considering how ragged the source material is, the quality of the DVD is actually quite generous. This DVD can provide a lot of fun and laughs.

It’s the last stout explosive moment of the classic era of film noir — and I do mean explosive. This is one detective film, like “Chinatown,” which you won’t soon forget.
Aldrich and screenwriter A. I. Bezzirides took on Mickey Spillane’s accepted P.I. Mike Hammer, but aside from keeping the basic place outline of the current new, they completely changed the nature of the character in a very reactionary fade. Spillane’s Mike Hammer is a Unique York detective-avenger, a self-righteous vigilante who deals out justice when the terrified forces of the law can do nothing: he’s a vicious knight on a mean-spirited quest to suitable wrongs through brute force. (The title of the first Hammer modern, “I, the Jury” handsome remarkable sums up his attitude.) And this brings us to the snarl of the ending, and the only extra on this disc. (Don’t concern, I’m not going to spoil the ending.) For years, “Kiss Me Deadly” had a mysteriously abrupt finale that many people praised for its surreal, peculiar quality. This was how I first saw it. However, in 1997 the unique ending was discovered in Aldrich’s personal print of the film by editor Glenn Erickson and film noir scholar Alain Silver. Apparently, an accident animated a careless projectionist snipped off fragment of the ending, so what we had enjoyed and critiqued for years was actually a mistake! The modern ending shown on this disc fortunately doesn’t change the tone of the film: it’s peaceful heavenly amazing, filled with a shining spend of light and sound effects. However, there’s peaceful something about that abrupt ending that gets to people. The DVD contains the option to search for this current abrupt ending so you can form up your mind which one `feels’ more lawful to you: what the director intended, or the mistake that many embraced as a stroke of brilliance.

Robert Aldrich’s KISS ME DEADLY is one of these movies I examine every two or three years with the same pleasure. When I discovered it for the first time long ago, Film Noir meant Humphrey Bogart, Howard Hawks, James Cagney or John Huston to me. So imagine the shock KISS ME DEADLY gave me.

Everything was so innovative in this movie from the initial credits rolling backwards over Cloris Leachman running half-naked on the road and gasping in Mike Hammer’s car with a quite erotic intensity.
